The Study Shack
The Study Shack is founded, owned and operated by Janie Teller, M.Ed. Janie founded The Study Shack in 2005 to help support NYC students to be the best version of themselves, and has worked to fulfill that mission for the past 20 years. In that time, Janie has paired thousands of students with dedicated, compassionate tutors.
In addition to her operation of The Study Shack, Janie has a 30-year background in regular and special education, and holds three teaching credentials from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA.) She has taught at the elementary and secondary levels in both public and private schools, and served as a learning specialist for adolescents challenged by learning and/or emotional issues.
As a mom herself, Janie enjoys working with other parents to help them feel supported with their child’s academic journey.
